Wanaka to Makarora? (really!)
68 km (42.3 mi)

Made it out of town today. Usually I end up staying a day later than I plan, this time it turned out to be nearly a week! Said goodbye to Robin and Sayaka...put my favorite Pixies album on and was on my merry way. The ride was nice today except for the headwind blowing in my face. Got to outer Makarora and did a spin around the block. Makarora is a town of about 100 people but it is split up into two parts about 5km apart. It was kinda nice to get off the road and cruise down the street. One house has the lawn ornament market cornered by a long shot. Stopped at the petrol station/pub, got a clock picture there. Up at the holiday park right now. Met this guy at the park here who is going down to the pub for a beer, so it looks like I have a ride. He said I showed up on the wrong night though, cause the backpacker bus doesn't show up tonight. The backpacker bus contains loads of cute girls he says. (most of them do, so he is probably right).
